Senior Student Success Advisor

Working under the supervision of the Director of the Student Success Advising Center, the Senior Student Success Advisor will collaborate with Student Success leadership, faculty, staff, and students to design and deliver group-based and individual outreach, programming, and services to enhance student success. The senior student success advisor will also provide individual advisement to new and prospective students and support the director in training student success advisors.

Essential Function 1 -
Programming (10%)
Collaborate with Student Success leadership and campus partners to develop, implement, and assess programs related to academic recovery, first-generation student support, and peer mentoring as well as other programs and initiatives to support student success.
Facilitate student success workshops

Essential Function 2 -
Advising (50%) - Provide holistic advising to current and prospective students including support in understanding degree requirements, accessing campus resources, and setting academic and setting academic and personal goals

Essential Function 3 -
Campus Engagement (15%)
Serve as the liaison between the Student Success Advising Center and the academic. departments to ensure advisors are sharing accurate information about academic programs
Participate in campus events including but not limited to orientation, preview days, and welcome events

Essential Function 4 -
Training (20%)
Assist the director in training new student success advisors.
Mentor other student success advisors.
Work with SSAC leadership to review and update training materials, SSAC website, and other advising resources

Essential Function 5 -
Other duties as assigned (5%)

4 Year / Bachelor's Degree
At least three years of college academic advising experience
Master's Degree in a related field
Experience with BANNER
Experience advising at Georgia Gwinnett College
Extensive experience working with various student populations
$45,300 - $56,600; Salary offer will be dependent on candidate¿s experience and qualifications, internal equity considerations, budget availability, and salary administration guidelines.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Extensive knowledge of trends, issues and best practices relevant to advising and ability to apply the knowledge to develop and improve advising practices and support student success

Extensive knowledge and understanding of GGC academic programs and degree requirements, academic policies, procedures, and student success initiatives

Knowledge of and ability to use advising related technology, including Degreeworks, D2L, GradesFirst, BANNER

Skills in verbal and written communications

Skills in interpersonal interactions and relationship building

Skills in preparing and delivering presentations

Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies

Ability to maintain confidentiality of information and records

Ability to work evenings and weekends

Ability to maintain and utilize professional ethics
