Handyperson

Job Title: Handyperson Department: Facilities

Reports to: Assistant Director of Facilities Effective Date: 1/12/2026

# of Direct Reports: 0 # of People Supported: Campus Wide

Job Description:

The Handyperson is expected to work independently to complete interior and exterior repairs and maintenance to all University buildings.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Perform general repairs and maintenance to all Campus buildings

Respond to work orders assigned by work order system and by verbal communication

Assist other handy people and tradespeople with work related tasks when requested

Painting as needed

Assist in office moves as needed

Perform other related duties as may be assigned within the Facilities Department's scope of work

Required Skills/Abilities:

Familiarity with hand and power tools

Must be willing to occasionally work evenings and weekends in emergency situations and for various special events

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Should be organized and able to handle multiple tasks

Must have a valid NYS driver license

Qualifications:

Ability to safely use common power tools

Ability to perform basic repairs and maintenance

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

Must have two (2) years of general handyperson experience

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift to 80 pounds and over routinely

Prolonged periods of physical labor

Salary:

This is a non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $17.00.

Hours Expectation:

Full-time, 40 hours per week

Housing:

Housing is not provided.
