Job Description:This position requires a blend of clinical expertise and technical proficiency for effective use of simulation-based educational modalities. Independently interacts with students in during educational experiences designed to enable experiential learning and/or assessment of students' skills. Assesses student professionalism, knowledge, skills and behaviors using standardized measurement tools. Participates in simulation activities including operations. Promote and maintain all departmental duties and responsibilities in accordance with ASPE and SSiH code of ethics and standards of best practice.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Assist with daily administrative operation of the center.
- Support, maintain, and provide equipment utilized for training in simulation environments.
- Support and maintain the SimCapture suite of video-driven learning and assessment software used in both Simulation and Clinical Exam areas.
- Assist with simulation exercises including all equipment/supplies are properly prepared, tested and restored to optimal condition following each session.
- Assist with clinical skills procedures training.
- Teach in physical examination labs as needed
- Observe and accurately document student performance on skills checklists
- Communicate with students in a straightforward and positive way
- Maintain accurate records of departmental inventory for replenishment as necessary
- Maintain current membership in relevant professional societies
- Participate in departmental research and publication of results
- Participate in professional development
- Participate in community outreach programs
- Participate on university committees as appointed
- Be flexible and have the ability to adapt to quick changes and work in a dynamic environment
- Maintain a positive attitude and work well with students, staff, and SP colleagues
- Maintain the confidentiality of the students
- Represent department and the University favorably and in accordance with established Core Values and expectations
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the organization
Nursing degree/experience along with four-five years of experience working as a nurse educator with medical or allied health professions students. Expertise with simulation-based educational methodology of all types as a tool including assessment, training, debriefing, programming, etc.
Highly preferred qualifications:- Past experience working specifically in UME/GME. Expertise in center management software
- Demonstrate intermediate computer skills and proficiency
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills
