
Application Instructions:
The Interactive Media Arts program prepares students for emerging technologies used in Games, Virtual/Augmented/Mixed realities, Virtual Film Production, Projection Mapping, and related industries. We concentrate on creating digital art assets and stories enhanced by a game engine, industry-standard art asset creation software, Artificial Intelligence, and programmed interactivity to prepare students for the coming explosion of growth in this industry. Our program serves a diverse student body with varying backgrounds and career goals.
We are seeking passionate and experienced animators and game artists to join our faculty as part-time instructors with the following specialty: 2D Animation, 3D Animation, 3D Modeler, Game Writer, Game Designer.
Opportunity for other courses will be for the summer and fall 2026 terms.
The immediate needs are for the following courses in the spring 2026 semester.
WRITING FOR GAMES AND INTERACTIVITY. Research and practice in the creation of an original story, includes understanding visual structure, character development, plot structure and the design of both visual and verbal content. Course will study a variety of visual narrative approaches. Students will use industry standard software to create an interactive story with art.
2D ANIMATION PRINCIPLES. This course is an introduction to 2D character design and animation from concept to finished projects for interactive media arts related industries. Topics include the principles of animation as they pertain to a hand drawn object or character. Student projects will focus on developing conceptual and artistic skills using industry-standard software applications.
3D MODELING FOR GAMES AND FILM. This course is an introduction to 3D modeling from concept to finished projects for video and the Web. Topics include character design and modeling, prop design and modeling, and creating 3D environments. Student projects will focus on developing conceptual and artistic skills using industry-standard software applications.

Any active vested member of California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS), who accepts employment with the SOCCCD to perform service that requires membership in CalPERS, is eligible to elect to continue retirement system coverage under CalSTRS
