Salary Range: $58,000 - $62,000/Annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Job Type: Full Time

Job Summary

As part of the Business Affairs Strategic Communications team, the Web Developer will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining complex websites and web applications using advanced web authoring code.

Core Responsibilities
  1. Implement web functionality utilizing current advanced web authoring code based on client interface to determine needs and specifications.
  2. Consult with Business Affairs Strategic Communications team members, as well as clients throughout the division, to determine goals and requirements for the development and deployment of websites and applications.
  3. Design and develop web page text and visual content, navigational links and page layout using advanced web authoring code and web accessibility/usability best practices. Designs or integrates graphics, business content and databases as appropriate to develop feature-rich web applications.
  4. Document design flow, installation and operating procedures as needed or as assigned.
  5. Meet with team members, as well as clients throughout the division as appropriate, to evaluate and modify websites and respond to inquiries regarding errors, problems or questions on websites.
  6. Monitor performance of websites after implementation.
  7. Manage assignments, including web maintenance tasks, creation of new pages or sites and more, ensuring work is completed in a timely manner and following the team's project processes and customer service standards.
  8. Research new methods, techniques and software and make appropriate recommendations to ensure state of the art web design.
  9. Compile, analyze and reports website utilization statistics.
  10. Conduct usability testing to determine website functionality relevant to client needs and ease of use.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience may be substituted for education on a one for one basis.
  • Three (3) years of experience in client driven website and web application architecture and development using advanced web authoring code.
  • This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Four (4) plus years of experience in client driven website and web application architecture and development using advanced web authoring code.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of HTML and advanced web authoring languages (to include Javascript and CSS frameworks such as Bootstrap) and graphic design software.
  • Knowledge of computer programming techniques and computer languages.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience working with Content Management Systems (CMS).
  • Knowledge of database design standards and database management.
  • Excellent sense of visual and structural design.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware and software problems and utilize creativity and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills to be able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to interface with clients with a service-oriented attitude to determine needs assessments.
  • Advanced written communication skills.

Working Conditions
  • Office Environment.
  • Occasional extended work hours may be required to meet deadlines.

Physical Demands
  • Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary, if walking and standing are required, only occasionally.
  • Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force.

This position will work both on campus and remotely in Texas. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.

This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Verification of a valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
