Police Dispatcher Primary Purpose: The Police Dispatcher is responsible for receiving and transmitting routine and emergency telephone and radio messages, viewing camera surveillance systems, and identifying issues important to the department's mission. Essential Functions: Answers emergency telephone requests for police, fire and medical emergencies. Dispatches police, required equipment, or arranges for response from other departments, as appropriate. Maintains radio communication with University police units and for maintaining logs of the activities of each officer. Maintains various departmental files including criminal records and confidential files. Assists in training new dispatchers. Performs a variety of clerical and typing work. Performs other duties as assigned or requested. This position serves as Campus Security Authority (CSA) as outlined by the Clery Act.
