Purpose: The Adjunct Faculty member is responsible for facilitating small-group instruction, assessment, and mentoring within the Clinical Reasoning component of the Clinical Skills and Reasoning Course Series in the Physician Associate Program. Working under the direction of the Course Director of Record, this position facilitates weekly virtual small-group patient case discovery and clinical problem-solving sessions, participates in hands-on clinical immersions on campus, and grades student assignments and clinical performance exams in accordance with program rubrics and ARC-PA standards.

Essential Functions:

·         Lead weekly synchronous small-group sessions focused on clinical reasoning, patient case discovery, hypothesis generation, diagnostic inquiry, evidence-based research analysis, and patient-centered management planning.

·         Evaluate student documentation and performance in alignment with established rubrics in Canvas, including SOAP notes, verbal case presentations, and virtual and in-person simulated patient examinations.

·         Complete facilitator evaluations of student performance and professionalism; provide timely, constructive feedback to support student clinical development.

·         Identify students struggling with clinical reasoning concepts, coordinate with the Course Director of Record to provide focused guidance/remediation.

·         Model professionalism, compassionate patient-centered care, and cultural humility, integrating a Christian worldview into small-group discussions and ethical clinical decision-making.

·         Attend scheduled course briefings and complete course-related grading as assigned by the Course Director.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

·        Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physician Associate/Assistant, MD, or DO (will be required upon employment). Preference will be given to PAs.

·        Current NCCPA certification for PAs (PA-C Emeritus acceptable) or current board certification for physicians.

·        Must have a master’s degree in either healthcare or education, doctoral degree is preferred.

·        3 or more years of clinical experience. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
·        Strong clinical diagnostic and medical decision-making skills across outpatient and acute settings.
·        Proficiency with virtual communication and learning technologies (Microsoft Teams, Canvas LMS) and adaptability to hybrid learning models.
·        Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on providing constructive, growth-oriented student feedback.
·        Strong interpersonal, conflict-resolution, and small-group facilitation skills.
·        Superior organization skills and punctuality in meeting grading and evaluation deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications
·        Prior teaching or small-group facilitation experience in PA education, medical education, or clinical preceptor roles.
·        PA education experience and familiarity with objective-based assessment rubrics.

Setting Requirements

·        Modality: Hybrid / Remote for weekly virtual synchronous sessions and grading.

·         Must be a member of a local evangelical* Christian church.

*Evangelical is a broad term referring to segment within Christianity which maintains the authority of the Bible and the belief in salvation by faith in Jesus alone.
