Classification Pay Scale
In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.

Expected Pay Scale
Minimum: $40.00 Hourly
Maximum $40.00 Hourly

Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Department Chair, the Adjunct Faculty member provides high-quality instruction and academic mentorship to students in the Master of Healthcare Administration program. This role supports the program's mission by integrating theory, applied practice, and leadership development to prepare students for effective management roles across healthcare settings.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of:

Healthcare delivery systems, organizational structures, and governance models.
Healthcare finance, policy, quality improvement, and regulatory environments.
Leadership theories, management frameworks, and change management strategies.
Accreditation standards and competency-based education in health professions.

Skill:

Graduate-level teaching and instructional design using adult learning principles.
Facilitating discussion-based and applied learning principles.
Assessing student learning and providing constructive, outcomes-focused feedback.
Using learning management systems and educational technology tools.

Ability to:

Demonstrate a commitment to working in an organization that values and promotes humanism.
Apply real-world healthcare management experience to enhance student learning.
Communicate complex concepts clearly to diverse, mid-career and early-career learners.
Foster an inclusive, respectful, and engaging learning environment.
Collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and program leadership.
Adapt teaching strategies to multiple instructional modalities and learner needs.

Required Qualifications

Education:

Master's degree in healthcare administration, health management, public health, business administration, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.

Experience or Training:

A minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience in healthcare administration, management, leadership, or operations.
Demonstrate experience applying healthcare management principles in organizational or system-level content.

Special Requirements, Licenses, and Certifications:

Travel may be required for various off-site meetings, trainings, conferences, and/or events in support of the overall objective of the position.
Ability to teach online, hybrid, or in-person (special requests) formats as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, DHA, EdD) in healthcare administration, public health, leadership, or related discipline.
Five (5) or more years of leadership experience in healthcare organizations.
Prior graduate-level teaching or faculty development experience(s).

Essential Job Duties

Deliver graduate-level instruction through lectures, discussions, case studies, applied learning activities, and other methodologies deemed appropriate

Prepare and update course materials, syllabi, and learning resources in alignment with program outcomes and accreditation requirements.

Develop grading rubrics and assess student learning through assignments, projects, exams, presentations, and other mean

Hold weekly office hours and engage in student support activities, including mentoring, advising related to coursework, and responsiveness to student inquiries.

Participate in faculty meetings, orientation sessions, and program-level coordination as requested
