Classification Pay Scale In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.
Expected Pay Scale Minimum: $25,000.00 Annually

Job Summary This is a College of Health Sciences – Master Physician Assistant Administration-level position within Western University of Health Sciences and is offered in conjunction with a faculty appointment. Together, the administrative role of Chair, Department of Physician Assistant Education (PCN 999175) and the faculty appointment (PCN F03517) comprise a full-time position (1.0 FTE).
The salary range listed in this posting does not represent the total compensation for the combined administrative and faculty responsibilities. Please refer to the corresponding job posting for details on the additional assignment.
The Chair reports directly to the Dean of the College of Health Sciences and is responsible for development, implementation, alignment, updating, and oversight of department/college catalogs and policy and procedures.

Required Qualifications Education:
- Terminal degree in profession from a recognized medical/health sciences or health education from an accredited institution.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in academia.
Preferred Qualifications Preference:
- Preference will be given to individuals possessing experience in a medically oriented academic setting, leadership experience and/or interprofessional knowledge, and breadth and depth of knowledge of regulations of programs within CHS and University policies.

Essential Job Duties - Conducts all administrative duties needed to keep the PA Program running smoothly.
- Sets up yearly budget program and conducts monthly review of expenditures to see that there is no over expenditure.
- Actively participates in College of Health Sciences and other University committees.
- Prepares student semester schedules.
- Updates the PA Handbook and PA section of the University Catalog.
- Performs research and/or scholarly activity.
- Provides instructions to students as part of the PA curriculum.
- Counsels students with personal/academic concerns and refers them as necessary.
- Evaluates and monitors progress of the program.
- Conducts faculty workshops.
- Coordinates team teaching responsibilities.
- Prepares clear and concise written reports (Self Study, Grants and Progress reports).
- Works closely with the faculty staff and students of other departments in College-related activities.
- Recommends PA instructors and staff for employment as needed.
- Performs school, community and professional service activities.
- Oversees, evaluates and advises office staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintain Catalog/Department & College Documents.
- Provide leadership and oversight of the catalog review, updating, alignment and implementation.
- Identify and implement continuous quality improvements in policies and procedures consistent with the mission, goals and objectives associated with College of Health Sciences.
- Provide leadership in the development, implementation and assessment of efficiency and effectiveness of College policy and procedures.
- Responsible for maintaining quality and overall consistency among catalogs, policy and procedures of the academic programs within CHS.
- Participates as a member of committees responsible for assisting in the planning and implementation of College of Health Sciences policies and procedures.
- As assigned conducts meetings of the faculty and staff of the College of Health Sciences.
- Represents the College of of Health Sciences by providing presentations to various groups regarding the programs within the College and the University.
- As requested by the Dean represents the College of Health Sciences for internal or external activities.
- Provides and performs leadership in scholarship, teaching and service.
- Interacts with and facilitates the development of community partners.
- Assist in the development, advancement, and fundraising activities at college level.
- Participates in Physician Assistant application interviews.
- Participates in PA recruitment.
- Participates in PA orientation activities.
- Counsels prospective students on prerequisite requirements.
Communication:
- Exhibits teamwork and communication within the College.
- Exhibits professional and collaborative communication across colleges and in development of external partnerships.
- Timely, professional and accurate communications.
- Cooperates with the appropriate state agencies, professional organizations, and crediting bodies in the development of the required self-studies and in assuring the delivery of the necessary reporting of information related to policy and procedure.
- Ability to interact effectively with people of all backgrounds, including students, administration, faculty and staff – maintaining open and accurate communication with CHS leadership team, faculty, staff and students.
- Provide course instruction and guest lectures.
- Will be required to attend University functions outside normal working hours.
