Department of Philosophy and Classics
The Department of Philosophy and Classics at the University of Texas at San Antonio offers undergraduate degrees in philosophy and classical studies and humanities, a master's degree in philosophy, and minors in the these areas as well as religious studies. The department has 10 tenure track and fixed term track faculty members, many of whom have won research, teaching, or service awards.

Position Summary
The Department of Philosophy and Classics invites applications for a renewable three-year Assistant/Associate Professor of Instruction position, starting August 2026. We are seeking candidates with a specialization in any aspect of Greek language, literature, or history. The successful candidate will be expected to teach introductory courses in Greek, Classical Mythology, and other Classics courses in translation based on the candidate's research specialty and departmental need. We are especially interested in someone who will develop and execute plans for growing undergraduate majors and minors in Classical Studies.
The Assistant/Associate Professor of Instruction is a fixed-term track (FTT) position with a standard 4-4 teaching load. The FTT contract is for 3 years, and is renewable. See HOP 2.02 Faculty Appointments and Titles and the Fixed-Term-Track Faculty Salary Pay Scale. FTT faculty members are eligible for research and conference travel funding through internal grants.
