The University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA invites applications for 1 postdoctoral position in the Program for Research on Men's Health within the School of Nursing and Perelman School of Medicine. The fellowship is for 1 year, renewable for a second year, depending on successful completion of work in the first year. The postdoctoral fellow will have a primary research focus on men's health equity: research at the nexus of men's health and health equity in an effort to achieve optimal well-being and social justice for men in the United States and across the globe. The Program for Research on Men's Health is actively collaborating with Global Action on Men's Health, the Equimundo MenCare Changemaker Journey, and the Movember Foundation to build our collective capacity and impact on the health of men in the United States, the Americas, the World Health Organization, and across the globe. Here is an example of our collaborations: the MenCare Changemaker Journey and the Real Face of Men's Health 2025 United States Report.
The aim of this fellowship is to train a scholar to further develop and strengthen research competencies in men's health, men's health equity, health equity/ health justice, and population health and well-being including: the values and mission of health equity and health justice; the importance of focusing on well-being in addition to health; engaging literature and expertise from across the globe; the implications of intersectionality for men's health equity; multilevel intervention strategies; the value of historical context and humanities expertise; definitions of expertise and who we have as partners in research; the value of disseminating research through academic and non-academic outlets; policy education and advocacy; and the ability to work effectively in, with, and across communities. The fellow will work on projects and initiatives directly with leaders from Global Action on Men's Health, Equimundo, the Movember Foundation and others.
Position summary:
Deadline to submit all application materials is Tuesday, March 31, 2026 The Postdoctoral Fellow in Men's Health Equity will conduct and disseminate research that aligns with the goals and values of the Program for Research on Men's Health. The primary mentor for the successful candidate will be Derek M. Griffith, the director of the program. The fellow will focus on publishing their dissertation findings, collaborating on manuscripts and projects with Dr. Griffith (and colleagues from organizations noted above), and developing new research projects. Responsibilities of the postdoctoral fellow:
Qualifications
1. PhD in social science, behavioral science, nursing, public health, or related areas
2. Interest in pursuing an academic career or a career where scholarly research, particularly programmatic or policy intervention research, is a priority.
