Position Summary: The mission of the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology (MS-SLP) program at Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU) is to prepare competent and professional service-minded leaders in speech-language pathology (SLP) who apply Christian principles and values to communication and swallowing disorder prevention, assessment, and intervention across the lifespan.  The OBU MS-SLP program invites applications for a 12-month, full-time faculty appointment. This role involves teaching, advising, service, and scholarship. Faculty rank and salary will be determined based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.  The ideal candidate demonstrates teaching excellence, mentoring skills, a growth mindset, and a collaborative attitude.  This position is eligible for remote work. Occasional travel to the OBU campus in Shawnee, OK is required.

Qualifications:

  1. Preferred: terminal academic doctorate (PhD or EdD) from a regionally accredited institution. Candidates actively pursuing a terminal degree, holding a clinical doctorate, or with a master’s degree will also be considered. Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in adult or pediatric dysphagia, neurogenic disorders, voice disorders, fluency disorders, cultural and linguistic diversity, and/or craniofacial/genetic disorders.
  2. Experience in higher education, specifically developing and teaching asynchronous and/or synchronous online graduate or undergraduate courses.  
  3. Evidence of innovation, organization, leadership, and excellence in hybrid or online instruction at the university level.
  4. Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate professionally and collegially with colleagues within the program and across the institution.
  5. Strong interpersonal skills for mentoring and advising undergraduate and graduate students.
  6. Licensed, or eligible for licensure, as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Oklahoma.
  7. Current ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)
  8. Active in professional activities at local, state, and/or national levels.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Course Development and Teaching:  
    • Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses.
  • Research:
    • Conduct and disseminate scholarly research.
    • Mentor graduate students completing clinical research projects.
  • Service:
    • Participate in institutional and professional service opportunities.
    • Advise graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Professional Development:
    • Engage in professional development opportunities.

 

Special Requirements:

  • Must be a member of a local evangelical* Christian church.

*Evangelical is a broad term referring to segment within Christianity which maintains the authority of the Bible and the belief in salvation by faith in Jesus alone.
