Job Summary The Department of Art in the College of Arts & Sciences at Georgia College & State University seeks a tenure track Assistant Professor of Photography.
Responsibilities Faculty - Teaching/Instructing - Teaching Responsibilities
- Full-time instructional load teaching in areas of expertise within the academic discipline
- Regular course meetings and instruction
- Mentoring students
- Other teaching responsibilities
All Georgia College & State University faculty share the responsibility of teaching our core curriculum and providing foundation courses for majors and non-majors alike. Faculty employees also contribute to the Georgia College & State University core curriculum by teaching topical freshman (GC1Y) or sophomore seminar (GC2Y) courses.
Faculty - Professional Development - Faculty are expected to conduct research and develop within the profession.

Required Qualifications Educational RequirementsA terminal degree (MFA) in Photography or a closely related field is required and must be in hand at the time of appointment.
Must meet SACSCOC accreditation requirements stated in C.S. 3.7.1 (www.sacscoc.org (faculty credentials))
Required ExperienceDemonstrated teaching experience at the post-secondary level
Proficiency in traditional and contemporary fine art photography practices, including:
o Analog and digital capture
o Darkroom processes
o Studio and alternative lighting
o Inkjet and traditional photographic printing
o Critical approaches to lens-based media
Preferred Qualifications Additional Preferred QualificationsWorking knowledge of Digital Media, including digital photography, multimedia, and computer-based imaging.
Ability to teach one or more of the Foundation courses such as Drawing, 2D Design and Introduction to Computer Arts.
Ability to oversee, operate and maintain photography studios and related facilities, with proficiency in both analog (film) and digital equipment.
Evidence of staying current with evolving technologies and practices in photography and digital media.
Preferred Educational QualificationsA terminal degree (MFA) in Photography or a closely related field is required and must be in hand at the time of the appointment.
Preferred ExperienceMinimum of two years of post-secondary teaching experience beyond the graduate level.
Evidence of methodological innovation and effective, creative teaching strategies.
Record of scholarly activity, exhibitions, publications, or other creative work.
Proposed Salary The salary range would start at a minimum of $60,000.00 to a maximum of $63,000.00.
