Salary Range: $54,000 - $58,000/Annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Job Details Job SummaryThe Business Development Specialist provides management and technical assistance and information services to small businesses. The position is responsible for providing and advising on all aspects of small business operations including marketing, management, financing, procurement, accounting, personnel, but with special emphasis on financing small businesses or procurement and government contracting. The role conducts client advising, assists in the development and implementation of training events and workshops, promote SBDC services, network with community organizations involved in small business and economic development, and assist in maintenance of data in the SBDC database system, while creating and planning programs to engage and support the community, students, employees, and promotes fundraising and volunteer recruitment. May involve researching and implementing community engaged learning programs.
Core Responsibilities- Provides counseling for small business clients.
- Performs needs assessments of businesses and recommend plans of action.
- Assists Director in working with community organizations to achieve program goals.
- Assists in the development and implementation of workshops and conferences for businesses including participation as a speaker.
- Participates in marketing and outreach efforts.
- Attends professional development workshops and seminars relating to small business development.
- Assists in the preparation of program reports.
- Attends SBDC regional and national meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in business, economics, marketing, finance, accounting, management or a related field.
- One (1) year of related work experience in any combination of areas such as the following:
- Consultant to small businesses in management or technical skills; staff member within a business/economic development organization; manager or proprietor of a small business; procurement or government contracting; banking to include commercial lending experience.
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
Preferred Qualifications- Three (3) years of related work experience in any combination of areas such as the following:
- Consultant to small businesses in management or technical skills; staff member within a business/economic development organization; manager or proprietor of a small business; procurement or government contracting; banking to include commercial lending experience.

- Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasional.
This position will work
both on campus and remotely in Texas. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Verification of a valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
