Salary Range: $75,504 - $80,000/Annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Job Details

Job Summary

Under minimal supervision, responsible for the development, maintenance, automation, and enhancement of enterprise financial systems and integrations supporting Student Accounts Receivable (AR) and campus payment services. This role builds and maintains applications, ETL processes, APIs, and financial data flows that support billing, refunds, settlements, eCommerce, receivables, collections, compliance processing, and institutional reporting. Works primarily with Ellucian Banner Student Accounts Receivable, TouchNet payment systems, AppWorx (Automic) job streams, and downstream integrations with ERP and Finance platforms. Supports both batch and real-time system workflows.

Core Responsibilities
  1. Designs and develops enterprise web-based applications and services using 3-tier/microservice architecture, agile delivery practices, and modern CI/CD workflows.
  2. Participates fully in the SDLC — requirements through development, version control, testing, deployment, and post-production maintenance and support.
  3. Develops and maintains APIs and integrations including REST, SOAP, WSDL, XML, and secure financial transaction interfaces.
  4. Collaborates with analysts, architects, and functional teams to design UI workflows and backend logic for payment, billing, collections, and student AR systems in partnership with functional and technical teams.
  5. Develops prototypes using the functional specification for software project.
  6. Documents workflows through technical diagrams and sequence/data-flow mapping for Banner AR and TouchNet pipelines.
  7. Supports and maintains implementation of complex off-the-shelf components or applications requiring development.
  8. Partners with fiscal teams, student teams, and internal technical teams to translate business rules into automated processing solutions.
  9. Responsible for utilizing source control management tools.
  10. Provides feedback on testing functionality requirements and performance implements and provides feedback on usability design principles.
  11. Follows and provides feedback on applicable software development processes, policies, procedures and coding standards.
  12. Works with DBA teams to optimize SQL/PL-SQL packages, ETL routines, indexing, and reconciliation extracts for Finance.
  13. Identifies system defects, data breakage, or financial posting errors and develops permanent fixes or automation solutions.
  14. Prioritizes work around billing windows, registration cycles, and year-end AR deadlines to ensure system availability and accuracy in a high-pressure environment.
  15. Builds strong partnerships with financial end-users, AR teams, Cashiering, Finance, Student, and UTS teams.
  16. Proactively seeks opportunities to broaden and deepen knowledge base and proficiencies; shares acquired skills with team members through formal and informal channels.
  17. Mentors' junior developers in best practices, appropriate use of design pattern, coding standard and security guidelines.
  18. Maintains awareness of emerging student system, financial system technologies, payment gateway trends, PCI standards, and automation tooling.
  19. Assists with special project, new technologies and deadlines.
  20. Assists in architecting and developing software solution utilized university wide to support areas such as but not limited to student, faculty and staff services, ERP system and application to support university business function
  21. Troubleshoots and corrects performance problems related to web, desktop and mobile application; provides technical assistance and training by responding to inquiries regarding errors, problems or questions.
  22. Updates rules, creates test files and submits annual 1098T Banner processes culminating in submission of student files to 3rd party processor.
  23. Coordinates end-of-year Banner closeout process, creating multiple files for reconciliation with PeopleSoft.
  24. Creation and update of APPWORX Banner queries.
  25. Builds custom extracts, AR reports, file feeds, and troubleshooting queries based on operational need.
  26. Maintains and updates auto-feed process of Banner activity to Peoplesoft.
  27. Maintains and update websites and student self-service related to the Touch Net payment portal.
  28. Provides On Call Support.
  29. Performs other Related Function as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Three (3) years of related work experience.
  • This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.

  • Ability to manage midsize enterprise level project development.
  • Proficiency with systems design, programming, and scripting.
  • Ability to recognize when to escalate a procedural issue.
  • Knowledgeable in developing documentation, providing customer support and training users.
  • Ability to proactively learn, adapt to and use new hardware/software technologies.
  • Ability to organize, manage time effectively, deliver tasks on time, manage rapidly changing priorities, and manage multiple efforts.
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgment.
  • Well-developed customer service skills and proven ability to develop and sustain productive customer relationships.
  • Ability to stay abreast of new and emerging technology solutions by participating in technical training and technology briefings/ webinars, including self-paced and other staff development activities.
  • Ability to collaborate in a broad team environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Highly proficient using Microsoft Office.

Working Conditions
  • Office and Data Processing Environment.
  • Computer, servers, hardware, and standard office equipment.
  • Occasional exposure to extreme cold and risk of electrical shock.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Occasional evening and weekend work. Occasional travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or multiple university owned campuses and leased spaces.
  • Required to be on stand-by call status, carrying pager, cell phone or two-way radio as assigned and respond to afterhours emergency calls.
  • Required to be on stand-by call status for overtime, evenings, after hours, odd hours, shift work, weekends, and/or holidays as needed. Flexibility in scheduling may be required.

Physical Demands
  • Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. reaching overhead, at or below shoulder level.

This position will work primarily on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
