This position is based in Tacoma, WA, and is an on-campus role only.

Position Summary:

The Associate Athletics Director for Internal Operations is a key leadership role within the department, under the leadership of the Athletics Director. This position will have significant responsibilities to include a commitment to scholar-athlete success, compliance oversight, operational management, student leadership development and engagement, and fostering a culture of excellence and belonging.



Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Compliance Oversight

    • Serve as the department's primary compliance officer, ensuring adherence to NCAA Division III regulations, university policies, and Northwest Conference rules.

    • Implement and manage centralized athletics database to streamline compliance tracking, student-athlete eligibility monitoring, and reporting processes.

    • Develop and deliver NCAA compliance rules education and continuing education sessions and implement best practices.

    • Collaborate with Academic Advising to support scholar-athlete academic success and eligibility monitoring.

  • Student Leadership, Development and Engagement

    • Serve as the primary advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), guiding student-athlete leaders in event planning, community service, and advocating for scholar-athlete welfare.

    • Develop programming to enhance leadership skills, career readiness, and civic engagement among scholar-athletes.

    • Foster collaboration between SAAC and campus student organizations to promote and increase engagement.

    • Oversee and lead department-wide professional development initiatives, including recruitment and retention strategies.

    • Create and implement programming to foster a culture of inclusion and belonging.

    • Build and collaborate with campus to align Athletics efforts with broader institutional goals.

  • Operational Management

    • Lead the modernization of departmental processes, including scheduling, team travel coordination, financial oversight, and budget management.

    • Evaluate current business practices to identify inefficiencies and implement policies and procedures to streamline workflows and enhance resource utilization.

    • Collaborate with other campus departments, including Human Resources and Finance, to ensure Athletics operations align with institutional policies and goals.

    • Serve as the department's point of contact for internal audits and risk management assessments.

Supervisory Responsibilities



Supervision of student staff.

Budget Responsibilities



Lead budget manager, responsible for creating a complaint, fiscally responsible and effective processing and reporting system for the department.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required

  • Minimum of three years of progressive experience in collegiate athletics administration or coaching, preferably at the NCAA level

  • Demonstrated experience in compliance administration, student leadership and program development

  • Dedication to holistic development of scholar-athletes, coaches, and staff

  • Commitment to promoting a respectful work environment and fostering a culture of inclusion

  • Ability to respectfully work, communicate, and provide leadership within a diverse campus community

  • Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required for athletics events.

  • Ability to respectfully work, communicate and provide leadership within a diverse campus community

Compensation and Benefits:
The anticipated range for this position is $86,756.00 - $90,000.00 annualized. Decisions about starting salaries are made based on the extent and relatedness of the candidate's education and experience and on internal equity and market considerations.

Please note:
-Positions that work less than .75 FTE (1,560 hours per year) do not qualify for long-term disability or education benefits.
-Positions that work less than .50 FTE (1,040 hours per year) will accrue paid sick leave but are not eligible for additional benefits.
-Temporary positions that work at least .50 FTE (1,040 hours per year) will be eligible for benefits.

This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
