Satellite Consumer Staff (Temporary)

Primary Purpose:
The Satellite Consumer Staff assists with the implementation of a semi-independent living program support service to a population of 28 persons who are diagnosed as experiencing a major mental illness and who live within the program's Satellite Apartment's complex.

This position funding renews every year. Continuation of this position is based on renewal of funding.

Essential Functions:

  • Facilitates the implementation of a weekly dinner meal services for all residents of Satellite Apartments.
  • Implements a bi-monthly activity service.
  • Implements a monthly resident government for all residents.
  • Collects and submits all apartment maintenance requests.
  • Maintains the multi-purpose room and office for all service effort.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested in support of program operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Volunteer or paid experience in a helping profession.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and ability to use email.
  • Ability to document service interactions and service outcomes.
  • Ability to form and maintain positive relationship with tenants of the program.
  • Basic understanding of San Joaquin County Mental Health Services.
  • Basic understanding of cooking skills.
  • Ability to operate office machines, copiers, scanners, fax machines, voice mail systems and personal computer.
  • Positive attitude, proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

The position requires performing physical activities, including standing, bending, kneeling, stretching, and reaching while interacting with adults and significant others within the field and within the office. Lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds. Ability to walk up and down stairs. Possible contact with chemicals and loud noises. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Requires a current TB test.

Additional Requirements: Ability to pass background/sanction checks for the funding agency(ies).

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Work performed during standard business hours.

Valid driver's license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University's fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.

Hiring Range: $16.90 -$18.93 per hour; We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

Background Check Statement:
