Job Description:

The Director of Nursing position is a 12-month administrative position.  The Director directs the Department of Nursing and is an advocate for innovative vision, leadership, and strategic direction for the academic programs and the faculty and staff. This position provides leadership to fulfill the educational needs of students and to promote the enhancement of instructional quality, service, and scholarship, and develop organizational strategies for the growth and change in the educational environment. The Director will manage the day-to-day operations of the department, supervise all programs offered by the department, develop course schedules, make faculty course assignments, supervise and evaluate department faculty and staff, manage the departmental budget, advise students, review and update departmental curricula, hire and supervise adjunct faculty, work toward the resolution of student complaints, lead the process to pursue or maintain the accreditation of programs, serve on College committees, oversee planning and assessment activities, and perform other duties as assigned. The Director will also represent the College as a member of local, state, and national organizations and will facilitate collaborations with the local healthcare community. This position reports to the Dean, Health Sciences.

Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an institution that holds accreditation recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and approved by the College with a master’s degree in nursing, two years related full-time teaching or administrative experience required and a current, active, unencumbered Florida registered nurse license or a multi-state license, approved by the Nurse Licensure Compact, that is inclusive of Florida.  Successful results of a criminal background check and drug screen are required.

Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations.  Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position.  A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.

Preferred Qualifications: Prefer graduation from an institution that holds accreditation recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and approved by the College with a doctoral degree; administrative work experience within an academic setting; experience in curriculum development and evaluation; and experience with national accreditation requirements.

Salary Range: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 depending on qualifications and experience.
