Appointment:
The Chemistry department at the University of Puget Sound invites applications for a two-year full time Visiting Assistant Professor position to begin Fall term 2026.

Responsibilities:
Teaching responsibilities for the positions will be primarily in introductory chemistry courses and labs. Teaching responsibilities for upper-level lectures and/or labs may be available, dependent on the candidate's expertise and department needs. This position involves teaching, on average, 3 units* per semester (Fall and Spring). Supervision of undergraduate research is encouraged. The Chemistry and Biochemistry Department has excellent instrumentation and resources and the University has an active summer research program to fund undergraduate students doing summer research. *Units are equivalent to one course.

Qualifications:
It is preferred that candidates have a PhD in Chemistry by the start of appointment and a strong commitment to teaching undergraduates. Candidates who are close to completing their PhD or Master's level with teaching experience will also be considered.

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

Faculty salaries at the University of Puget Sound are based on a common salary scale based on experience. Assistant Professor salaries in 2025-2026 begin at $73,904 annualized for an assistant professor without a terminal degree in their field in their first year of full-time post-doctorate teaching through $83,262 annualized based on experience.
