Position: MakerLab Technician

Department: Academic Affairs

Type of Position: Part-time Temporary

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

Work Schedule, Hours per week: Monday-Friday, 12 hours per week

Opportunity for hybrid schedule: No

Starting Salary Range: $16.31-$20.77 and determined based on relevant years of work experience provided on application and resume.



Position Summary: Assist with the operation of the Education Technology MakerLab, including overseeing student use, assisting students with files and projects for fabrication, operating machinery, maintaining equipment and inventory, and training new student workers.

Required Qualifications:
  • Completes routine tasks under moderate supervision.
  • Typically requires at least 1 year of related experience.



Position Details: Job duties include but are not limited to:
  • Assist students, staff, and faculty in evaluating projects, preparing files, and operating machinery.
  • Maintain equipment in the MakerLab, perform regular cleaning and maintenance tasks, identify and troubleshoot issues, and update software.
  • Train work-study students on the proper use and maintenance of the MakerLab machinery.
  • Assist with the creation and design of instructional multimedia content as appropriate to fulfill the needs of the Educational Technology Center's objectives and mission.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with faculty and student collaborators.
  • Provide timely support services to employees with basic/first-level technical problems.
  • Provide guidance and direction to others and set operational and safety standards.
