International Admissions Specialist

Office of International Education and Services

Full-Time

The Office of International Education and Services is seeking a dedicated professional to join its team as an International Admissions Specialist (IAS). The IAS will report to the Assistant Director for International Admissions and will provide clerical support for the international admission process. The IAS will be an important part of the International Admissions team, which processes nearly 5,000 applications a year from prospective students worldwide. The ideal candidate for this position is an ethical person with a genuine interest in learning about the people and education systems of other countries, and a team-oriented worker with strong organizational skills and demonstrated attention to detail.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Perform multiple functions in the international admissions workflow
  • Work across multiple software platforms to create and maintain data files in the University's student information systems
  • Assist with converting international academic credentials to the U.S. 4.0 GPA scale
  • Review and verify the authenticity of submitted application documents
  • Communicate via phone and/or email with prospective, applied, and current international students to relay admission-related information
  • Provide timely, responsive, and accurate customer service to prospective international students and families and to international partners representing Southeast
  • Work with university databases to run various reports
  • Assist with interpretation of admissions data and policies


Required Qualifications


  • High school diploma or GED. A bachelor's or higher degree is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Access
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with students, parents, faculty, staff, and the public
  • Professional experience working and/or communicating with non-Native English speakers and people from outside the United States
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Evidence of accuracy in recording data and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer service essentials
