College
UT San Antonio's College for Health, Community and Policy trains students to develop solutions for complex social issues to improve the well-being of our communities. By engaging directly with the City of San Antonio and other key community partners, students and faculty live the college's mission to advance human health every day. The college is comprised of seven academic departments and one program —criminology and criminal justice, kinesiology, nutrition and dietetics, psychology, public administration, public health, social work and sociology and demography —as well as the Center for Applied Community and Policy Research, the Center for Community Based and Applied Health Research, the Institute for Demographic and Socioeconomic Research and the Institute for Health Disparities Research. Department
The Department of Psychology, located in the College for Health, Community and Policy, hosts one of the largest majors on campus (over 2,200 students) and offers degree programs at the BA, MS, and PhD level. Students at each level have opportunities to assist in faculty research. Our 22 tenured and tenure-track faculty and 5 fixed-term, full-time teaching faculty represent many of the traditional subfields of Psychology and bridge between areas. Psychology faculty have a history of collaboration with researchers at the US Army Research Institute as well as various industry and community partners. The department also has strong ties to the integrated academic medical center, UT Health Science Center at San Antonio, as well as TX Biomed, Veterans Administration, Pearson Testing Company, San Antonio Military Medical Center (including Brooke Army Medical Center), the Institute for Army Surgical Research, and the STRONG STAR Consortium. Position Summary
Clinical Psychology, Assistant-level (tenure-track): Outstanding candidates in clinical psychology are invited to apply for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level that will begin in August 2026. This position is expected to contribute to the department's anticipated Clinical Psychology PhD program (estimated start date in Fall 2026 or Fall 2027, pending approvals). Areas of specialty are open, but there is a strong preference for candidates with a thorough background in empirically supported assessment and treatment. We would welcome a new colleague who can collaborate within current departmental areas of strength, including but not limited to traumatic stress, assessment, forensic psychology, military health, substance misuse, suicide prevention, couple and family relationships, cognition, and health, as well as someone who can expand our expertise and training opportunities into new areas.
Candidates, regardless of research emphasis, should be able to teach courses within the core areas of the Clinical Psychology curriculum (e.g., clinical interviewing/assessment, empirically supported interventions, ethics, psychopathology). Preferred candidates will bridge or buttress undergraduate and non-clinical graduate programs to meet departmental needs (e.g., clinical psychologist with expertise in biopsychology/physiological psychology, developmental/lifespan psychology, social psychology, personality psychology, research methods, statistics). The Department of Psychology fosters an excellent research and mentoring environment for faculty. Salary and start-up packages for the position are highly competitive.
