College of Sciences
The College of Sciences (COS) at UT San Antonio fosters innovation and excellence through teaching rooted in research across seven departments and 30 degree programs. With more than 4,800 students and 280 faculty, COS offers a supportive environment that empowers learning, collaboration, and achievement. Our faculty are recognized nationally and internationally for their research and scholarship. Our college is closely affiliated with several leading research centers and institutes, including the South Texas Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases, the Brain Health Consortium, and the Center for Innovative Drug Discovery. Our research strengths range from atoms to galaxies, cellular health to planetary dynamics, and the mathematical and physical principles that connect them all. Department of Biology, Health, and the Environment
The Department of Biology, Health, and the Environment embraces an interdisciplinary mission at the intersection of human, animal, plant, and environmental health, as well as our role in preparing students with interests in health careers. Its eight-research faculty, along with over fifty non-tenured faculty members, are recognized for both educational innovation and research excellence. We have 2,900 undergraduates working towards one of five bachelor's degrees: BS in Biology, BS in Pre-health Sciences, BS in Environmental Science, BA in in Environmental Studies, BS in Multidisciplinary Science (Grades 7-12 Certification). We have over 60 master's students working towards either an MS in Biology or MS in Environmental Science. Based on the Department's degree programs and research interests, we are building around the One Health paradigm.
Position Summary
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in biology or environmental science. This position would have a baseline teaching requirement of 4 undergraduate or graduate lecture courses in the Biology, Health, and the Environment Department each semester. This position will be provided an office and desktop computer.

Salary
Starting at $50,000 for a nine-month appointment (Fall and Spring semesters). Fixed-Term Track (FTT) faculty at UTSA are generally hired through renewable contracts. The primary contract would be for 9-months, with additional summer appointments (for teaching and administrative service) possible.
This posting will remain open until filled. Application review will begin immediately. At the discretion of the hiring department, this position posting may close once a sufficient number of qualified applications has been received.
This position is fully on campus, but may be assigned to teach both in-person and online courses. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
