Student Services Professional II
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
The Admissions Counselor's time will be spent on recruiting prospective freshman and transfer students and evaluating admission and enrollment requirements for freshman and transfer applicants and admitted students. Independently plans work and carries out day-to-day assignments without immediate direction, including those mentioned below.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:
Education: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field.
Experience: Possession of the required knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent of two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth. A master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.
Other Knowledge/Skills: Fundamental written and oral communication skills including a sound foundation in grammar, spelling, and punctuation; an ability to understand standard office procedures; an ability to learn office technology systems; an ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations; and typing and keyboard skills. Working knowledge of the practices, procedures and activities of student recruitment. Demonstrated ability to create and foster positive working relationships with administrators, faculty, staff, students, student organizations, public and private agencies, among others. Preferred experience in evaluating admissions files and accurately determining admission. Ability to create presentations using related software and familiarity with office-related software used for word processing and creating spreadsheets. Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle for transportation is a must. Ability to work frequent evenings and weekends and to travel overnight on business trips. Ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds (primarily in the form of recruitment materials).
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.
The person holding this position is considered a ‘Campus Security Authority (CSA)' to report crimes for the federally mandated Clery Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1107 revised March 24, 2017 as a condition of employment.
The person holding this position is considered a ‘mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 Revised July 21, 2017 as a condition of employment.

Hiring Salary: $5,083 per month
