Position Summary:
The Department of Statistics, Actuarial and Data Sciences at Central Michigan University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Statistics beginning August 24, 2026.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics and data science, develop a productive research program, mentor students, and contribute to departmental and university service.
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Statistics or a related field, completed by the start date.
- Demonstrated record, or strong potential, for academic excellence in teaching, research, and service.
- Ability to teach core statistics, statistical machine learning, and data science courses.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to develop an externally funded research program in statistics or applied areas.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor undergraduate and graduate (MS and Ph.D.) students.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute service to the department, university, community, and professional organizations.

About the Department:
The Central Michigan University Department of Statistics, Actuarial and Data Sciences (STAD) was officially launched in the fall of 2019. The Department offers a PhD in Statistics and Analytics, an MS in Applied Statistics and Analytics, graduate certificate programs in Data Mining and in Actuarial Science, a BS in Actuarial Science, a BS in Statistics, and a BS in Data Science. The Department currently has about 25 graduate students and 60 undergraduates. The Actuarial Science program is designed to prepare students for four actuarial exams and was recognized as a UCAP-AC program by the Society of Actuaries.
The Department manages a Statistical Consulting Center and provides a dynamic environment for teaching, research, and interdisciplinary collaboration. More information about the Department can be found on the
