Position Summary:

The Department of English at the University of Idaho invites applications for a full-time Instructor who can teach a range of classes in composition, professional and technical writing, and literature. This non-tenure track position will begin Fall 2026 with a 4/4 teaching load at upper- and lower-division undergraduate levels. Other subjects such as creative writing may be taught as relevant to department need and instructor experience. Service on department committees is expected.

Minimum Education/Degree Required:
Listed degree qualification is required at time of hire.
Required Qualifications:

  • MA in English or related field
  • 2 years’ experience teaching composition, professional and technical writing, and/or literature


Preferred Qualifications:

  • MFA or PhD in English or related field
  • 5 years’ experience teaching composition, professional and technical writing, and/or literature
  • Training in rhetorical and/or composition theory and pedagogy
  • Training in professional and technical writing theory and pedagogy
  • Specialization in literatures of the Americas
  • Specialization in digital humanities
  • Documented history of promoting student engagement, success, and achievement
