Classification Pay Scale
In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.

Expected Pay Scale
Minimum: $95,000.00 Annually
Maximum $105,000.00 Annually

Job Summary
Supervise dental students and/or residents in patient care activities at the College of Dental with a primary role in The Dental Center. Working with clinic administration to ensure an efficient, humanistic, and patient-centered clinic operation providing high quality care to patients. Educate students according to the standards of the College of Dental Medicine (CDM). Provide direct periodontal treatment to patients as required for operational success

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Individuals must possess these skills, abilities, and knowledge or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Recognized knowledge and experience in periodontal diagnostic and treatment services.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to both individuals and groups in writing and orally.
  • Ability to interact in an effective and positive manner with individuals of diverse backgrounds,
  • including administration, faculty, residents, students, staff, patients, and outside contacts.
  • Ability to effectively conduct detail-oriented assignments and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities in an academic environment.

Required Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or equivalent.
    • Active California dental license or be qualified to obtain California licensure
    • Completed accredited residency program in Periodontics


Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Specialty Board Certification or Board Eligibility required 
  • Experience:  Clinical practice, academic medicine, and/or clinical research experience is desirable
