The Children's Center Director provides leadership and supervision to the Children's Center. The Director is responsible for the planning, supervision and administration of the center's activities including program development, human resources, contract management, fiscal accountability, community relations, parent education, and operating the center in full compliance with California Department of Education and California Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing guidelines and Center policies. Additionally, the Children's Center Director is responsible for maintaining a close relationship with the infant toddler lab school on campus.

University Enterprises Corporation at CSUSB ("UEC") supports the university's educational mission by providing quality services that complement the instructional program. The University depends upon UEC to provide services that cannot be supported with state funds. We're responsible for business enterprises on campus including, but not limited to, dining, bookstore, convenience store, and vending services. We also serve as the grantee for federal, state, and local funding for research and sponsored projects.
Position Summary
Temporary, Exempt, Full Time, Benefited position through 6/30/2025 (Appointment may be renewed annually based upon availability of funds, availability of work and satisfactory job performance).
Salary: $6,250.00-$7,083.00 per month.
Location: CSUSB Campus.
Work Schedule
Exempt. 40 hours per week. Generally, Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 5:00PM. Some nights and weekends may be required.

Typical Activities
Under minimal supervision of the VP of Student Affairs, the Director will work independently to:
I. Program Development & Operations
Identify, implement, monitor and evaluate the philosophy for classrooms; oversees the daily operations of the center; ensures compliance with all licensing regulations; monitors application process and record keeping for all applicable Federal, State and local agencies; oversees required child assessments and parent conferences; conducts orientation sessions and tours each semester and at parents' request; monitors intake and/or certification interviews with each family; monitors enrollment to maintain optimum levels and to ensure appropriate staffing ratios; monitors parent compliance with program regulations and payment schedules and provides consequences accordingly; serves as liaison to the Children's Center Parent Advisory Committee; plans and conducts parent education events where appropriate.
II. Fiscal Management
Performs administrative duties including, but not limited to, budget development, implementation and monitoring (including monthly reconciliation and review); demonstrates accuracy and timeliness in the processes of payroll, requisitions, A/R, billing, equipment purchasing and maintenance, inventory control, accuracy and timeliness; provides analytical evaluations of data, trends and revenues utilizing information systems and reports; monitors consistency and accuracy of parent fee payments; conducts annual fund raising activities to augment income; develops proposals for additional government and other sources of funding.
III. Human Resource Management
Recruits, hires, trains, and evaluates program teachers and staff; Conduct staff orientations and training sessions to ensure proper training on all aspects of their responsibilities; conducts monthly staff meetings and bi-weekly teacher meetings during the academic year and when otherwise determined; provides expertise in areas of program development, strategic planning, problem- solving, group leadership, and conflict resolution; provide resources for professional training opportunities for all staff; ensures parent conferences and student evaluations are performed regularly; supports student advocacy for childcare funding.
IV. Contract Management
Acquires, maintains, documents, complies, evaluates and conduct renewal process for all contracts for funds including but not limited to: California Department of Education (CDE), California Department of Social Services (CDSS), Child Nutrition Services, and UEC; reviews and signs all certification and re-certification forms; monitors expenditures of contract funds and maintenance of levels of service; alerts supervisors and UEC as to issues, which may affect contract status; negotiates contract renewals; participates in networking, communicates with consultants and attends conferences where necessary to remain up to date on conditions for compliance and to receive advice on changing regulations.
V. Facility & Equipment Management
Ensures compliance, training and education concerning safety precautions, hazardous materials, emergency procedures and equipment use for all staff; provides for a safe environment for all participants; conducts annual safety audit and equipment depreciation assessment.
VI. University and Community Relations
Provides referrals to campus and community services where needed or requested by families of enrolled children. Participate in campus and student events such as Orientation Programs, Career Fairs and recognition events. Participates in CSU Childcare Directors group, CSUSB Student Affairs Directors group, and the CSUSB Student Life Team. Participates in community professional groups and activities to increase visibility of the program and of childcare in general in the community.
Work with the faculty liaison for CSUSB Children's Educational Programs to ensure up-to-date best practices are in place throughout the center and modeled in the classrooms for child development practicum students and observation students.
Maintain a close relationship with the Infant Toddler Lab School director to ensure continuity across childcare programs on campus, including joint events and professional development opportunities for teachers.
VII. Other
Carry out other duties as assigned, including but not limited to, participation in department, team, division and university meetings, planning sessions and trainings. Some travel may be required to fulfill duties as director including travel to trainings, conferences, work retreats, and travel to CSUSB Palm Desert Campus.
