Position Title: Lecturer of Psychology
Department: Psychology

Position Summary: 
The Psychology Department at Dominican University is accepting applications for a Lecturer position in psychology, area of specialization open, to teach foundational courses in psychology, including Introduction to Psychology and courses in their area of specialty.  This is a full-time, in-person, appointment.  Although Lecturers are not on a tenure-track, they do have a promotion path (Lecturer; Senior Lecturer; Distinguished Lecturer), can become eligible for multi-year contracts, and can (when qualified) be considered for conversion to a tenure-track appointment.  Lecturers have a workload of 24 credit hours per academic year. 
  
We are especially interested in candidates who can re-envision, organize, and standardize our Introduction to Psychology curriculum by working with the other faculty members in the department to continuously improve and assess an inclusive, inquiry-based curriculum for this course. Especially strong candidates would be those excited to contribute to other first- and second-year courses (e.g., Abnormal Psychology, Introduction to Neuroscience, Multicultural Psychology). Successful candidates will be joining a supportive and collaborative department, with excellent opportunities for professional and career development, including a strong departmental interest in the scholarship of teaching and learning.  Candidates of diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.

Required Qualifications: 
  • Master's degree in psychology
  • A commitment to working with first-generation, immigrant, and/or underrepresented/historically excluded students
Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD, Psy.D. in psychology
  • Experience with inclusive and culturally responsible teaching practices
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to spend long durations of the workday sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times
Salary and FLSA Status
  • FLSA Status: Exempt, full-time
  • SALARY: $61,000 - $64,500
