Governors State University’s College of Arts and Sciences seeks to create an available pool of local (Chicagoland area) Adjunct Faculty candidates to teach undergraduate, general education courses in Geography.
We are particularly interested in adjunct faculty to teach courses in the following areas: Non-Western Geography, Physical Geography, World Regional Geography, Human Geography, North American Geography.
Interested individuals are invited to complete a faculty profile, attach a curriculum vita, cover letter, transcripts and list of references for consideration. If available, please also include a sample syllabus from one of your current or most recent undergraduate courses.
At Governors State University, adjunct faculty are hired as temporary faculty with teaching responsibilities for a specific course in a semester or summer session. Adjuncts are not a part of the faculty bargaining unit and are not included in membership of the Faculty Senate.

The successful candidate will be appointed to New College with a cross-appointment in the Department of Geography in the College of Arts and Sciences. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an extramurally funded, interdisciplinary research program in the broad areas of watershed, coastal, marine or aquatic sciences, water resources, or geomorphological processes, with potential applications for watershed management or policy. Researchers examining coastal or fluvial erosion, flooding, landform evolution, or biogeomorphology are especially encouraged to apply.
