    We are seeking a postdoctoral fellow in computational spatial biology to work in the laboratory of Professor Sylvia Plevritis in the Department of Biomedical Data Science at Stanford University. This research opportunity will be focused primarily on the development and application of novel computational algorithms to analyze and integrate diverse omics datasets, including single-cell RNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics and multiplexed immunofluorescence in-situ images, in the study of immune-stromal-cancer interactions in metastatic progression. The scholar will aim to understand mechanisms through which the tumor microenvironment impacts tumor invasion and metastatic progression, using high-throughput data derived from cellular subpopulations within tumors. The Future of Stem Scholars Initiative (FOSSI) The Future of STEM Scholars Initiative (FOSSI) is a program providing scholarships and professional development opportunities directed at furthering science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education in students from underrepresented communities. If selected, the student will receive a $40,000 scholarship award. This award will be disbursed in the amount of $10,000 per year, for four (4) years, and will go directly to the institution in which the student is enrolled. Selected students will also receive internship preparation and placement, leadership training, mentoring and access to the AIChE student networking opportunities.
