This position will fabricate, install and repair mechanical systems, research equipment and structural components. It will repair and maintain mechanical equipment and perform welding on structural components. Duties may include:
Provide fabrication and maintenance support
Use hand-welding, flame-cutting, hand-soldering and brazing equipment to join metal components, fill holes, indentations and seams of fabricated metal products
Fabricate custom-made parts
Fit, align and assemble fabricated parts; clean and finish projects to meet specifications
Rebuild and manufacture replacement parts of complete mechanical assemblies
Determine cause of failure or wear and select appropriate repair/replace method
