  Postdoctoral Research Associate Department of Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences, Brown University. We are searching for a postdoctoral research associate to join a NASA funded project. The research includes analyses of extraterrestrial samples (carbonaceous meteorites, asteroid samples) using various chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques, as well as construction of an interactive GCMS and chromatography database for organic compounds in extraterrestrial samples. A wide range of chromatography and mass spectrometry instrumentation is available for analyzing extraterrestrial organic compounds at Brown. These include GCFID, GCMS, HPLCMS, GC-isotope ratio-MS, and a newly acquired UPLC-orbitrap mass spectrometer (Thermo Exploris 240). The postdoc will have access to all these instruments and is encouraged to develop new research ideas and collaborative grant proposals. The Future of Stem Scholars Initiative (FOSSI) The Future of STEM Scholars Initiative (FOSSI) is a program providing scholarships and professional development opportunities directed at furthering science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education in students from underrepresented communities. If selected, the student will receive a $40,000 scholarship award. This award will be disbursed in the amount of $10,000 per year, for four (4) years, and will go directly to the institution in which the student is enrolled. Selected students will also receive internship preparation and placement, leadership training, mentoring and access to the AIChE student networking opportunities. This program is administered by HBCU Week Foundation, Inc.
