  • Lead and support quantitative and qualitative analyses of study data, including epidemiological analyses of mortality and health services data and analyses of intervention trial data. • Prepare first-authored and collaborative manuscripts, conference presentations, and reports. • Contribute to the design, coordination, and day-to-day conduct of ongoing studies, including community-based intervention pilots involving people at risk for suicide and/or overdose and family and other informal caregivers. • Develop an independent line of research aligned with the lab’s aims, with mentored support for fellowship and career development award applications (e.g., NIH F32/K awards, foundation grants). • Help supervise and mentor research assistants and student trainees.

    Summary A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is immediately available to investigate the mechanisms of gut nutrient sensing and brain reward systems by intestinal Intrinsic Primary Afferent Neurons (IPANs) and their roles in obesity and diabetes development as part of an R01 funded project in Dr. Sinju Sundaresan’s laboratory at Midwestern University, Downers Grove, IL. We are seeking hard-working, highly motivated, detail-oriented candidates with background in neuroscience and experience in rodent survival surgery, stereotaxic surgery, electrophysiology, rodent behavioral evaluation combining opto- or chemo-genetics, fiber-photometry, and head-mount miniature microscopy to join our research team. Experience in multi-omics, bioinformatics, and data analyses using R will be considered as assets.
