Dean, College of Arts and Sciences JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT The Dean provides dynamic leadership and strategic direction for the College of Arts and Sciences and functions as its chief academic officer. This position reports directly to the Provost and is responsible for maintaining and strengthening the quality of academic programs and faculty and staff, and working with other deans and university constituencies to help fulfill the university's educational mission. The Dean must be a strong and effective leader and manager of the human, financial, and physical resources of the College. The Dean has oversight of the School of Education and the Departments of English and Humanities, Mathematical Sciences, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and Fine, Digital, and Performing Arts, the General Education Program, the Clark Planetarium, and the Center for Public History.
