Appointment:
The University of Puget Sound School of Physical Therapy seeks applications for a full-time Director of Clinical Education (DCE) at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor (non-tenure-track) to begin July 2026.

Responsibilities:
The DCE provides leadership, development, administration, and oversight of the clinical education component of the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. The DCE is responsible for developing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating the full-time clinical education experiences that support student learning outcomes, professional development, and program accreditation standards. The DCE partners with the Director of the Onsite Clinic and other academic faculty to establish clinical education standards and works collaboratively with faculty, clinical partners, students, and university leadership to ensure high-quality, equitable, and sustainable clinical education experiences. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills and commitment to collaboration with colleagues, and an understanding of contemporary legislative, regulatory, and practice issues affecting physical therapy education and the profession. Teaching responsibilities will be determined in coordination with the program director. Clinical-line faculty are expected to engage in scholarship and professional development, advising and admission activities, and university service.

Qualifications:
  • Earned professional doctor of physical therapy degree from a CAPTE-accredited program
  • Licensed physical therapist (WA state eligible)
  • Minimum of 3 years of full-time clinical practice
  • Minimum of 2 years of academic teaching experience of DPT students
  • Demonstrates ability to maintain CAPTE accreditation scholarship standards
  • Commitment to culturally responsive, inclusive teaching, and community engagement

Highly desired qualifications:
  • Board-certified specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists
  • At least 5 years of full-time clinical practice in a variety of practice settings
  • Knowledge of data management and workflow systems

Rank: Clinical Assistant Professor

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

Faculty salaries at the University of Puget Sound are based on a common salary scale based on experience. Assistant Professor salaries for 2025-2026 begin at $84,076 annualized for an Assistant Professor with a terminal degree in their field in their first year of full-time postdoctoral teaching through $94,086 annualized based on experience.
