Purdue University, Computer and Information Technology Department

The Department of Computer and Information Technology was established in 1978 and has since grown to include more than 1,000 undergraduate and graduate students, and thousands of alumni around the world. Our program is offered in Indiana at locations in West Lafayette, Anderson, Columbus, and Kokomo. Many faculty have several years of industry experience and maintain active consulting practices. Several are award-winning teachers, nationally and internationally published authors, and they actively engage in applied research activities with industry and government partners.

The bachelor’s degree in computer and information technology was one of the first baccalaureate IT programs to attain accreditation from the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET (http://www.abet.org). Accreditation verifies that the program delivers the highest quality education and training in the information technology field. The program’s strengths include hands-on laboratories, student involvement in faculty research projects, developmental projects and internships with industrial and governmental partners.
