The University of Memphis is a comprehensive urban university classified as a Carnegie Doctoral Research Extensive public institution (http://www.memphis.edu/). The University has 12 colleges and schools, enrolling approximately 22,000 students, including 4,300 in graduate degree programs. Prospects for collaborative and interdisciplinary research exist with various University research centers including the FedEx Institute of Technology, W. Harry Feinstone Center for Genomic Research, Methodist Le Bonheur Center for Healthcare Economics, Benjamin L. Hooks Institute for Social Change, and the School of Urban Affairs and Public Policy. Collaborative agreements allow for cross-institutional work with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, and partnerships with Baptist Memorial Healthcare System, Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare System, West Cancer Center, and other community health clinics and systems.
