  The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University at Albany (State University of New York) seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor in algebraic methods with potential applications to quantum computing or a related field, to begin in Fall 2026.   Successful applicants for this position must demonstrate a strong foundation in areas of algebra, such as category theory, computational algebraic geometry, algebraic number theory, algebraic statistics, or a related area. We are seeking a scholar with theoretical expertise in fundamental mathematics areas whose work bridges real-world applications related to quantum or neuromorphic computing. Examples of such applications include post-quantum cryptography, quantum information theory, and quantum complexity theory.
