The School for Field Studies

The School for Field Studies (SFS), the United States’ largest field-based, environmental study abroad program is headquartered in Beverly, Massachusetts. SFS creates transformative study abroad experiences through field-based learning and research. It offers fully accredited, college level courses on a semester and summer basis, and conducts research for community clients through its five-year research plans.

SFS operates field centers in Australia, Bhutan, Cambodia, Costa Rica, Kenya, Panama, Peru, Tanzania, & Turks and Caicos with full time resident faculty and staff. Its educational programs explore the human and ecological dimensions of the complex environmental problems faced by its local partners, contributing to sustainable solutions in the places where people live and work.
