The University of Canterbury is located in Christchurch, the largest city (close to both the sea and mountains) in New Zealand's South Island.

Known as the Garden City, Christchurch has excellent beaches, parks, reserves and golf courses, and is close to scenic and recreational resources - there are ski-fields within an hour and a half's drive.

Distinctively, the University of Canterbury offers a wide variety of subjects in flexible degree structures. We offer first and postgraduate degrees in Arts, Commerce, Education, Engineering, Fine Arts, Forestry, Law, Music and Science.

At Canterbury, research and teaching are closely related, and is encouraged at the postgraduate level. Our assessment is also distinctive. We have a system of internal appraisals, this supplements the end-of-year examinations, and provides essential feedback.
