The Educational Leadership & Policy Studies program at Boston University Wheelock College of Education & Human Development is designed to help students become effective leaders in a variety of settings. Students will cover topics essential for educational leaders, researchers, and policy analysts: school governance, educational equity and the law, educator evaluation and supervision, research design, diversity and justice in education, and more. Once students have completed a degree in the Educational Leadership & Policy Studies program, they will be prepared to be leaders ready to make an impact.
Students will learn how to tackle the most challenging issues in education leadership, such as working effectively with stakeholders; managing resources; developing, supervising, and evaluating staff; strategic planning; understanding the laws governing education; using scholarly research to strengthen decisionmaking; and, most important, advancing improved outcomes for all students with an emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Some of our degrees also include field-based experiences that give students the opportunity to gain exposure to the field before they graduate.
We offer a wide range of degrees in the program, including a Doctor of Education (EdD), a Master of Education (EdM) for those working in primary and secondary education, and a Master of Arts (MA). The program also offers a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) and a graduate certificate. For those wanting to work in traditional public schools, some of the degrees include the opportunity to seek initial administrative licensure.
