Holyoke Community College's mission to Educate. Inspire. Connect. is rooted in a history of ensuring that everyone is afforded the opportunity to achieve an education and to succeed. For more than 75 years, HCC has served our region by providing comprehensive, high-quality educational opportunities that are responsive to our community and that meet the needs of our diverse student body.
As the oldest two-year college in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts celebrating our 75th anniversary throughout 2021 and 2022, HCC is a vital economic driver for our region. We serve the Pioneer Valley, which consists of Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin Counties in Western Massachusetts, a population of approximately 700,000. The college serves 7,100 students annually, 5,500 taking credits and another 1,600 in the workforce and non-credit programs that provide pathways to jobs and advanced education for students of diverse ages, economic backgrounds and levels of educational attainment. Liberal Arts & Sciences, Foundations of Health, Business, Criminal Justice, and Psychology represent HCC’s highest enrolled programs. A wide range of career-oriented programs in business, health, and technology are designed to prepare students to enter and advance in their chosen field. Through active collaboration with industry, government, and community groups, the college constantly increases the strength, currency, and variety of its programs. All study areas provide a basis for transfer since all Associate Degree programs include a common core of courses designed to expose students to diverse fields of knowledge. The college continues to offer one of the broadest arrays of exemplary transfer options in the system, making it an exceptional avenue of access to the Commonwealth's flagship university and other public and private colleges in the New England area.
