San José State University - San José, California POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT Subject to Budgetary Approval Specialization: Wildfire Management Job Opening ID (JOID): 25188 Rank: Assistant Professor, Environmental Studies Responsibilities: Primary teaching responsibilities include the Environmental Studies undergraduate courses, graduate courses, and other courses in the applicant’s specialties. Program responsibilities include advising majors and minors, supervising undergraduate and graduate student research, and directing special projects. Faculty supervise original Master of Science thesis research and have regular meetings with advisees. Active pursuit of research and scholarly activities resulting in peer-reviewed products is required. Effective teaching, scholarly professional achievements and service are all essential for tenure and promotion. A key aspect of this position is that the faculty member will actively work with other faculty associated with the SJSU Wildfire Interdisciplinary Research Center to seek funding and conduct research related to wildfire management. This Center is devoted to developing strategies and policy to manage wildfire and better understand how wildfire will impact people and resources in the future.
