The Department of Physics at the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York is seeking to fill a tenure-track faculty position in experimental physics in the area of experimental high-energy particle physics that overlaps with quantum sciences in detector technology and/or information processing. The search is focused on early career faculty at the assistant or associate professor rank. Successful candidate is expected to become a member of the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN to join the existing efforts of the CMS group at UB, with options to pursue other interests such as smaller experiments, detector R+D, or future collider efforts. Current efforts of the CMS group include work on silicon tracker detectors, as well as reconstruction, calibration, and identification of hadronic jets.
