The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC), Department of Preventive Medicine, is seeking an independent researcher focused on childhood development or maternal and child health. The person selected for this position would be expected to be a primary investigator in projects related to the CANDLE cohort. The CANDLE Study (Conditions Affecting Neurocognitive Development and Learning in Early Childhood) is an active longitudinal birth cohort of 1500 mother-child dyads based in Shelby County, TN (www.candlestudy.com) and a member of the NIH-ECHO (Environmental influences of Child Health Outcomes) consortium. CANDLE mothers and children have been followed uninterrupted for the past 16 years. The cohort includes 65% African American representation and has extensive data collection from mothers and children over time and with linkage to a participant biorepository.
