  A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the Smart Biomaterials Research Laboratory (PI: Dr. Santiago Orrego). The candidate will study the effects of bioactive hydrogels for periodontitis treatment. The lab develops new technologies to improve oral help throughout smart biomaterials. The ideal candidate will have both strong interpersonal, as well as technical skills in order to fulfill the diverse roles required by this position.   The Engle Lab focuses on understanding the etiology of pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer to develop better prevention, diagnostic, and treatment strategies. We study the impact of altered glycosylation on the cross-talk between ductal cells with their microenvironment during disease pathogenesis as well as the role of tobacco-related carcinogens in priming the pancreas for transformation. We rely heavily on three-dimensional organoid mono- and co-culture systems as well as genetically engineered mouse models.  Position Description Post-doctoral positions are immediately available for individuals with a good understanding of cancer and disease modeling.
