Job Description:

Reporting to the Assistant Vice Provost for Student Services - Joplin, this role promotes Student Services as a nurturing environment, provides administrative support, and executes department projects and administrative tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as first point of contact for Student Services wing
  • Promotes Student Affairs as a caring and “customer” friendly environment
  • Provides administrative support for department by answering the phones and providing information as needed
  • Serves as back-up administrative support for the Vice Provost for Enrollment and Student Services
  • Maintains and displays a positive and helpful disposition and demeanor, creating a hospitable environment
  • Provides accurate and timely day-to-day support in the handling of a variety of departmental projects and administrative tasks
  • Manages Student Assistants; hires and manages student assistants, ensuring appropriate/adequate staffing and accurate submission of time sheets
  • Helps coordinate and provide support for student activities and events
  • Maintains data as needed
  • Helps to organize and conduct departmental meetings and events, as directed, by: securing space, equipment and food, as well as, preparing associated announcements and agendas
  • Manages department inventory, supplies, related requisitions, expense reporting and departmental work orders
  • Assists with the planning and execution of various KCU events (i.e. orientation, graduation, symposiums, meetings)
  • Serves as liaison with university constituents for room scheduling
  • Represents the University favorably and in accordance with established Core Values and expectations
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of the organization



Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • One to two years experience as a receptionist, secretary, or office assistant including one year of customer service experience
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong computer skills, working with word processing and spreadsheets essential
  • Must be diplomatic at all times and exercise good judgment
  • Must have excellent organizational skills, be an independent thinker, be able to set priorities, and handle frequent interruptions, while accurately accomplishing tasks and meeting deadlines
  • Requires the ability to work in a busy environment and balance multiple tasks while performing assignments accurately
  • Excellent telephone etiquette a must
  • Must be a team player and willing to help other departments
