Job Description

The soon to be established Center for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) at Otis College of Art and Design will be developed to include the voices of students, alumni, faculty and staff, as well as the communities with whom we engage externally, in robust research, exhibitions, symposia, lectures and curricular expansion on DEI issues in art and design.

The Center will create and support collaborative and transformative activities in service of the College’s mission and DEI values designed to break new ground through practice, scholarship and pedagogy. In addition, the Center will partner with Senior Leadership to ensure that DEI programs, practices, and policies align with the College’s strategic plan, workplace values, and mission.

Job Summary

The Associate Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (AVPDEI) is the administrative position responsible for the Center for DEI and will act as a cultural change agent.

Reporting directly to the President and serving as an integral member on the Senior Team, this role is responsible for advising, developing, coordinating, collaborating, and administering and/or implementing a variety of duties related to DEI for the College and within the fields of art and design.

This may include research, program development, best practices, policy creation, new initiatives, and activities that demonstrate the College’s commitment to being a truly welcoming, inclusive and supportive work and student environment, and institutional culture for all individuals from all racial and ethnic backgrounds, ages, nationalities, social and economic statuses, sexual orientations, gender identities/expressions, religions, ideological perspectives, and physical and mental abilities.

The AVPDEI will partner primarily with the President and Human Resources and Development and along with College administrators, the campus community, and external partners to foster and enhance the College’s vision, branding and reputation, and strategic goals related to DEI.
