Classification Pay Scale
In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.

Job Summary
Provide a variety of administrative tasks in support of the overall operation of the Office of Research Regulatory Affairs under the direction of the Research Regulatory Manager

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Individuals must possess the knowledge, as well as the following skills and abilities or be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Research and/or Regulatory Compliance experience is highly desirable.
    • Demonstrated ability to interpret federal/state/private foundation regulations, procedures and/or compliance standards.
    • Experience with research involving human subjects and/or animal used for research, breeding, teaching, or testing.

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, or other shared document systems and any other software program required by this position.
  • Demonstrated ability to track, manage and handle significant matters involving different issues with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interact with administration, faculty, staff, and students effectively and professionally.
    • Organizational skills necessary to prioritize workload to meet long and short-term deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented, adaptable, flexible, and creative in managing workflow.
  • Able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and sequentially.
    • Able to work in a fast-paced and time-sensitive environment.
    • Language ability to produce clear and concise reports; reasoning ability to problem solve quickly.



Required Qualifications
Education: High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s Degree Preferred, and/ or any combination of education / vocational training/ certificate course and experience within the related field.

Experience: 3-5 years of related administrative experience including research and/ or regulatory compliance experience, preferably in an academic setting.

Job Duties

Assist with the screening of regulatory documents/ applications for research submitted through the www.irbnet.org submission platform to appropriate research regulatory oversight committees such as Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) for review.

Assist with management and tracking of reviews and communication between IRB/ IACUC and the research team for timely response and review of submissions, dissemination of committee decision and follow up to automated notification of report due and expiration deadlines.

Assist with preparation of research regulatory oversight committee (IRB/IACUC) meeting agenda, schedules, and meeting minutes.

Supports Research Regulatory Manager with scheduling and facilitation of internal auditing/ inspections and post approval monitoring of research activities in accordance with state and federal regulations.

Other duties in support of the Office of Research Regulatory Affairs and/or Office of the Senior Vice President for Research & Biotechnology such as but not limited to department facilitated presentations, events/functions as needed.
